Conditions of participation
Thank you for your interest in our continuing education and training programmes. Here you will find all the important information about the conditions of participation.

§1 Registration
By registering for an online, in-person or hybrid event, you enter into a contract with the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy for participation in the training/further education programme. This contract is binding and obliges you to pay the participation fees. Participants will receive written confirmation of their registration. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received. Registration must be received at least four weeks before the start of the respective course. Unless otherwise stated, all offers are valid until the maximum number of participants is reached.
§2 Waiting lists
If the number of registrations exceeds the maximum number of participants specified in the event programme, a waiting list will be created, from which participants can move up if a place becomes available. Interested parties will then receive an offer of a place on the waiting list as confirmation of their registration.
§3 Special circumstances due to the pandemic
The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy attaches great importance to health protection. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have adapted our training and continuing education programmes and formats in accordance with official guidelines and will continue to respond accordingly in the future. In addition to face-to-face seminars with a reduced maximum number of participants and online seminars, we also offer our programmes as a combination of face-to-face and online (hybrid). To enable all participants to share the seminar experience, the presentation and speakers are accompanied by live video and audio from the seminar room via the conference software. This format also ensures communication between all participants. To implement these formats, we forward your name and email address to the conference software provider.
§4 Participation fee
The participation fee is due upon receipt of the invoice. If the option of paying in instalments for a course is indicated, this can be agreed upon before the start of the course. The participant must then issue a direct debit authorisation. If the participation fees for multi-part courses that form a single unit are paid in instalments, the participant is obliged to pay the full participation fee even if he/she does not complete the course for reasons beyond the control of the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy.
Vouchers for education bonuses are accepted. However, if these cannot be redeemed by us for reasons beyond our control, we will subsequently invoice the participant for the remaining participation fee. Members of the Förderverein Kinder-Hospiz Sternenbrücke e.V. (Friends of the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice) receive a 10% discount on all offers from the Akademie Kinder-Hospiz Sternenbrücke.
§5 Withdrawal
(1) Withdrawal must be made in writing.
(2) No costs will be incurred for withdrawals up to 8 weeks before the event. For withdrawals up to 3 weeks before the event, 50 percent of the participation fees will be charged, and for withdrawals at shorter notice, the full participation fee will be charged, unless a suitable replacement participant is named who makes a binding booking for the event.
(3) Costs for events that cannot be attended or cannot be attended in full by participants due to illness or other unforeseeable events will not be refunded.
(4) Any necessary change of speakers does not entitle participants to withdraw from a binding registration, provided that the overall structure of the event is not affected.
(5) In the case of curricular further training courses, missed parts will be made up for as far as possible.
§6 Liability and warranty
(1) The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy accepts no liability for damage incurred by participants on their way to and during their stay as a result of accidents, damage or theft of items brought with them.
The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy organises and holds seminars and selects qualified speakers for all seminars in the respective subject areas. The speaker is solely responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of the seminar content and seminar documents. The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy accepts no liability for this. Nor is it liable for any consequential damages that may arise from incorrect and/or incomplete seminar content. The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy reserves the right to make changes to the content of individual topics presented in a seminar before or during the event, provided that these do not significantly impair the overall character of the seminar.
(2) I am aware that I need a standard multimedia PC and an internet connection to make full use of all the offers and learning media available within the scope of the event I have chosen.
(3) Before using an online event, you are obliged to check the minimum requirements (e.g. internet connection, current browser version and/or conference software) for using the service. If it turns out that these are not available, this is not a defect for which the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy is responsible. The failure of the technical requirements for which you are responsible does not release you from any contractual payment obligations or the obligation to participate, taking into account the permitted absences for obtaining a certificate of participation and/or a certificate of completion.
(4) Upon request, we will provide information about the system requirements for using the online events via the selected conference software; as a rule, it is sufficient to have a current browser and a current operating system installed on your device.
(5) The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy does not guarantee that the online event will be permanently accessible or free of disruptions. The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy expressly points out that access to the online events may be temporarily unavailable or restricted (e.g. due to maintenance work, security measures or disruptions and problems over which the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy has no control). The temporary, short-term unavailability of an online event does not entitle the participant to price reductions, withdrawal or claims for damages.
(6) The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy is entitled to interrupt or terminate the provision of the service at any time and without prior notice. This applies in particular if there is suspicion of unauthorised use or a threat to the service or the IT infrastructure.
§7 Rights of use and copyright
(1) The content of all events, including the materials, documents and presentations contained therein, is the intellectual property of the respective speakers. All copyrights, rights of use and other property rights remain with the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy or the speakers, insofar as content, contributions or images are subject to copyright or other property rights of third parties.
(2) The following are not permitted in particular: the complete or partial publication, reproduction, transfer to third parties, editing or recording of an event, e.g. in audio, image or video form.
(3) You are obliged to respect copyrights and may only use the events for your own individual, non-commercial purposes within the scope of this contractual agreement.
(4) You are not entitled to distribute content that violates personal rights, copyright, data protection or criminal law provisions within the scope of the events or with their help. You are not permitted to disseminate offensive, defamatory, anti-constitutional, racist, sexist, violence-glorifying or pornographic statements or images within the framework of the events or with their help.
(5) If we have reason to believe that there has been unauthorised and/or abusive use of the events – in particular online events – as well as their content, or a violation of these conditions of participation, the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy is entitled to request confirmation of registration, to change the link, to block access in whole or in part, or to prohibit the use of any teaching materials sent by the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy.
§8 Minimum number of participants/cancellation
If the minimum number of participants specified in the programme is not reached, the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy may cancel an event. In the event of speakers being unable to attend, the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy reserves the right to appoint replacement speakers. If this is not possible, the event may be cancelled. Any participation fees already paid will then be refunded in full. Further claims against the Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy are excluded.
§9 Data protection
All information in this regard can be found in the data protection information.
§10 Continuing education credits
The Sternenbrücke Children's Hospice Academy awards continuing education credits from the Hamburg Medical Association, the Volunteer Registration of Professional Caregivers (ID number: 20091418) and in accordance with the Hamburg Nursing Professionals Professional Code of Conduct.
§11 Severability clause
Should individual provisions of these conditions of participation be or become invalid, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. In such a case, the parties shall reinterpret the invalid provision or supplement the contract in such a way that the purpose intended by the invalid provision is achieved.
